A presidency off the rails: retweets of jailed political foes, 32 joint defense agreements, and dangling pardons for criminals

Yesterday in the news:

  1. The President of the United States retweeted a meme of his political foes behind bars.
  2. The President of the United States has had joint defense agreements with at least 32 other people under investigation.
  3. The President of the United States in an Oval Office interview said, of a possible pardon for Paul Manafort, “It was never discussed, but I wouldn’t take it off the table. Why would I take it off the table?”

None of this is normal. The Nixon presidency comes to mind, but we’ve never before seen anything like this.
